English & Adventure: Junior Summer Programme with Trinity GESE

Every summer, Chaucer College transforms into a lively international hub, welcoming students from around the globe. Our Junior Programmes offer an exciting mix of communicative English language lessons, interactive activities, creative project work, and memorable excursions across the UK.

In this truly multicultural setting, students not only practise and improve their English but also build lifelong friendships with peers from a wide range of backgrounds.

Our expertly crafted lessons focus on enhancing listening and speaking skills, building vocabulary, and strengthening grammar. By the end of the course, students show clear progress in fluency, confidence, and overall language ability.

As part of the programme, students will also sit the Trinity GESE (Graded Examination in Spoken English) Speaking and Listening exam, giving them the opportunity to leave summer camp with a genuine, tangible qualification - one they can use throughout their education and future studies or career.

Course Information:

  • Course Dates: 14th June - 2nd August 2027

  • Course Length: Flexible, between 1 - 3 weeks

  • Arrival / Departure Day: Monday  

  • Student Age: 11 - 17 year olds 

  • Entry level: Beginner to Advance 

  • Accommodation: Full board residential

  • Lesson Hours: up to 17 hours of tuition a week

  • Class Size: Maximum 14 students per class

  • Excursions: 1 full day trip, and 1 half day trip per week included

  • Evening Activities included: changing each week

  • Exam: Trinity GESE Speaking and listening exam included 

Activities & Excursions: 

  • 1 full-day trip per week, including a guided tour by activity leaders

  • 1 half-day excursion per week

  • Exciting new destinations each week

  • Free day on Monday for optional trip (at an extra charge) 

  • Full afternoon activity programme, rotating each week

  • 2 trips into city centre per week with free time

  • Supportive staff members engaging with students during trips and activities

Academic Programme: 

  • 17 hours of English Language lessons a week, including engaging projects throughout the week

  • Classes divided according to placement tests and monitored throughout the student's stay

  • Maximum 14 students per class 

  • All course material provided, including drawstring bag, notebook and pen

  • Certificate provided on completion 

  • GESE Trinity Exam included

  • No Phone in lessons policy

Get ready for the Trinity GESE, an exciting international exam for speaking and listening! Students have a fun, friendly conversation with a Trinity examiner, showing off everything they've learned. With 12 levels, from beginner to advanced, there's a perfect challenge for every student. And best of all, they walk away with an official certificate recognised by schools, universities and employers all over the world, a real achievement to be proud of!

None - the course welcomes complete beginners through to advanced students (CEFR pre-A1 to C2), with placement testing before arrival and on arrival to ensure the right class level.

No - after placement testing, students are grouped and prepared for the GESE grade that matches their level, so the exam is appropriately challenging rather than one-size-fits-all.

We take pride in the food we provide, offering a range of options for every student, including fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes, alongside an unlimited salad bar. We also cater for all food allergies and religious dietary requirements.

A maximum of 14 students per class.

Yes, we operate a no-phones-in-lessons policy to help students stay focused and engaged. However, students are welcome to use their phones outside of lessons and are required to take them on trips.

 

We recommend packing something for every weather condition, including a rain jacket, sun cream and a hat, comfortable shoes, and suitable clothing.

Every evening offers something different, including:

  • Disco nights — three themed discos (Hawaiian, Neon and Rockstar) with decorations, a photobooth, and music from a wide range of cultures
  • Sports Day and Olympics — team-based competitive games including relay races, obstacle courses, and a full range of sports from football to badminton
  • Arts & Crafts — free creative sessions plus fun challenges like bridge building and the egg drop challenge
  • Quiz Night — team or solo quizzes covering science, geography, pop culture and more
  • Games Night — board games, card games, table tennis, pool, air hockey and FIFA
  • Cooperative Games — party games and unique team activities created by our own staff
  • Cultural Evening — a chance for students to showcase something from home, whether that's a dance, a song, or a short presentation, and learn from each other's cultures

We take student welfare very seriously. We have plenty of staff on site who are available to support students with any needs or concerns they may have. If a student is struggling, we take the time to understand what they need and do our best to provide the right support. We always aim to go above and beyond to ensure every student feels safe, supported and well cared for throughout their time with us.

We want all students to feel welcome, included and supported during their time with us. If a student has mobility needs, additional learning needs, or any other accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance so we can discuss their individual needs and make appropriate arrangements wherever possible. Our staff are on site and available to provide support throughout the programme.
